Costs & Dates

The price for both Under the Volcano writing master classes and Mexico Sings/Mexico Canta includes round-trip ground transportation between Mexico City airport and Tepoztlán, opening reception, closing dinner, orientation brunch, workshop tuition, individual conferences or coaching, and medical insurance for the duration of your trip. Master class writers: please email us for a range of lodging options, shared and private, from guest house to 4-star hotel. Master class lodging is in addition to the workshop cost. Participants in the UTV Opera Lab will be housed in shared accommodation in several locations in the village. Opera lab housing is included in the price. Airfare is not included.

Discounts

Returning workshop participants are entitled to a $100 discount on any Under the Volcano program.

Registration

Our Fiction and Poetry Master Classes require an 8-10 page writing sample for acceptance. Applicants must also pay a $50 processing fee and submit an online application, along with an email cover letter describing what they hope to gain from Under the Volcano. Space is filled on a first-come first-served basis. We do our best to insure your first or second choice in workshop placement.

You may register for Under the Volcano at any time. In order to maintain the high level of our workshops and build a true sense of community, we encourage only those applicants we believe will benefit from our approach. Please email us with any questions before applying. We guarantee a prompt response.

Payment Guidelines

A $50 processing fee is required for all workshops with your online application. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due on acceptance to guarantee your place, with the balance due on November 1st. Failure to complete the workshop payments in a timely fashion will release your space to other applicants.

• Complete an application form for each person attending and submit it online.
• Write a check to Under the Volcano for $50. Be sure to write our account number (# 4220338506) on the face of the check or your payment will not be credited.
